Retired Chief Antwane Bohanon was born in East Saint Louis, Illinois and raised between Earle Arkansas, West Memphis Arkansas, and Memphis Tennessee. He enlisted into the United States Navy in June of 1999 where he would serve his country for 21 years, retiring from the Navy in September of 2020. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois, Chief Antwane Bohanon completed Submarine School in January of 2000 and reported to the USS Maryland (GOLD) (SSBN 726) stationed in Kings Bay, Georgia. In addition to his first submarine, Chief Antwane Bohanon has also served onboard with seven other submarine commands such as the USS Bremerton (SSN-698), USS Los Angeles (SSN-688), USS Greenville (SSN-772), USS North Carolina (SSN-777), USS Delaware (SSN-791), USS La Jolla (SSN-701), and the USS San Francisco (SSN-711). During his career Chief Antwane Bohanon has also served alongside four different Admirals of the United States Navy including multiple executive staff commands to include Commander Pacific Fleet Hawaii, Commander Submarine Pacific Fleet Hawaii, Commander Navy Region Hawaii, and Commander Naval Recruiting Command in Millington, Tennessee. Chief Antwane Bohanon has honed in the areas of expertise in: Project Management, Risk Management, Budgeting, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Training Programs, and Contract Administration Process Improvement.

With 21 years in the Navy, Chief Antwane Bohanon has arranged multiple manpower boards to handle crew award incentives and promotional needs. Throughout his Naval career, Chief Antwane Bohanon has handled management actions in accordance with the Uniform Code of Military Conduct (UCMJ). He has also ensured proper training and understanding of all guidelines and requirements to maintain good order and discipline. Chief Antwane Bohanon has provided support to Division Officers and Department managers in handling of all compliances related to activities to include employee relations, fielding personnel questions or concerns, and communication and interpretation of policies and procedures. Chief Antwane Bohanon has also held charge of workforce development, procedural compliance, advancement criteria, disciplinary actions, and command expectations at multiple commands throughout his Naval career. Chief Antwane Bohanon has developed great skills in knowledge of investing in Human Capital and process management to include recruiting staff, updating employee records, conducting staff reviews, advising on remuneration issues, and interpreting employment law.

Chief Antwane Bohanon is currently attending Leadership Tennessee NEXT which is Tennessee’s only statewide leadership program which focuses on Tennessee’s existing and emerging leaders and spanning geographic and industry boundaries. Leadership Tennessee NEXT is for leaders to create cross-state, cross-sector networks, learn about Tennessee’s strengths and challenges, and prepare to serve local and professional communities. Leadership Tennessee NEXT features diverse leaders who are educated, engaged, and inspired to make Tennessee a better place.

As a member of Class IV, Chief Antwane Bohanon has been chosen to represent our region, community, and profession as we look to learn about the challenges and opportunities facing Tennessee in the future, while providing skills to propel continued personal and professional growth.
